Canon EOS R50 — Film Looks & Free Picture Styles

The R50 is the closest Canon gets to a Fuji-style shooting experience: a modern mirrorless body with the full Picture Style engine, including custom film-look files. For a creator camera — travel, street, vlogs — loading a film look means the JPEG comes out of the camera already graded, ready to post.

Picture Styles apply to photos and to video alike, so the same film look carries over to your clips. And because the look is applied at capture, what you see on the screen while composing is what you get.

How to load a film look on the EOS R50

The R50 offers the most convenient route: registering a picture style straight from the SD card. Copy the .PF3 to the card root, then go to Menu → Shooting → Picture Style → pick a User Def. slot → "Select file from card". If your firmware does not show that option, use the USB route with EOS Utility instead.

The full walkthrough (both methods, with the exact menus) is in the installation guide.

All free, all loadable in the User Def. slots of this body. The full catalog is in Films.

FAQ

Where is the Picture Style menu on the R50?

Menu → Shooting (camera icon) → Picture Style. The three User Def. slots live at the end of the list; once registered, a film look is selected exactly like Standard or Portrait.

Do film looks work on R50 video too?

Yes — Picture Styles apply to movie recording as well, so your clips come out with the same grade as your photos.

Can I try a look without committing?

Register it in a free User Def. slot and shoot RAW+JPEG: the JPEG carries the look while the RAW stays neutral, so you can switch or remove the style later in Digital Photo Professional.
