Canon EOS 80D — Film Looks & Free Picture Styles

The 80D is the DSLR a generation of hybrid shooters learned video on: 24 MP APS-C, a 45-point autofocus, a headphone jack and no C-Log — which is exactly why it became the body people looked for flat profiles and film looks on. It keeps the full Picture Style engine and the three User Def. slots.

One honest warning before you download: the 80D belongs to the generation of bodies that render the look from the style's colour recipe rather than from the embedded look data. If you load the exact-LUT variant, the file loads fine but the colours barely move — that is the body behaving as designed, not a broken download. Use the compatible variant on this page.

How to load a film look on the EOS 80D

Picture styles go in through EOS Utility: install it (free from Canon), connect the 80D over USB and open "Camera settings/Remote shooting" → "Register User Defined style". Pick one of the three User Def. slots and open the .PF3; it appears in the camera menu under its own name in seconds. There is no register-from-card option on the 80D.

FAQ

The style loads but the colours barely change — what now?

That is expected on this generation of bodies: they read the style's colour recipe (six-axis) and ignore the embedded look data. Take the compatible download, which is built for exactly this behaviour. Other 80D owners have reported the same thing.

Is there a CineStyle for the 80D?

Technicolor's CineStyle was distributed for a few specific bodies and never as an official profile for the 80D. The practical route on this camera is a neutral picture style plus grading — and if what you want is the cinema palette rather than the flattest possible file, Kodak 2393 is the closest starting point we ship.

Do the film looks work for 80D video?

Yes — the style applies to movie recording too, so your clips carry the same grade as your stills.
